You Gui Pills comes from a prescription in the Complete Book of Ching Ngao, a herb and therapy book written by Chang Ching-Ngao who was a prominent pharmacologist in the Ming Dynasty.

The You Gui Pills is named because they can nourish and stimulate the kidney organs and brace up the whole system under YING type to its normal condition by using YANG method to balance restoration. In Chinese herb medicine concepts, YING represents reaction in a negative, passive and cool way, while YANG type is the opposite.

By using Radix et Rhizoma Rehmanniae, Rhizoma Batatatis, Fructus Corni, Fructus Lycii to warm and strengthen the organs in order to brace up the whole system. Cortex Ciniamomi, Radix Aconiti, Cortex Eucommiae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Cuscutae Seed are most ideal for lumbago and belly-ache, fear of cold, and over-urinationleading to weakness of the body organs.
